How it is calculated
Customs duty is charged on the customs value, which includes freight and insurance up to the Turkish border (CIF). The rate for each HS code and origin is in the Turkish Customs Tariff; industrial goods from the EU and free-trade partners are mostly duty-free. Import VAT is charged on the customs value plus the taxes, fees and levies paid on import and other costs until the declaration (VAT Law Art. 21); SCT is charged on the same base without the SCT itself (SCT Law Art. 11). This tool does not hold the tariff: look up the rate or ask your customs broker.
CIF = (Mal + Navlun + Sigorta) × Kur; Gümrük vergisi = CIF × Oran; KKDF = Mal bedeli × KKDF oranı (vadeli ödemede); ÖTV = (CIF + GV + İGV + KKDF) × ÖTV oranı; KDV = (CIF + GV + İGV + KKDF + ÖTV) × KDV oranıThe rate is the CBRT forex selling rate on the day the customs declaration is registered (Customs Law Art. 30); left empty, the latest CBRT rate is used. Imports paid by acceptance credit, deferred letter of credit or cash against goods pay 6% KKDF; cash in advance, letters of credit and documents against payment pay none.Example
Goods invoiced at $10,000 with $500 freight at ₺40 per dollar have a CIF value of ₺420,000. 10% duty is ₺42,000; the VAT base is ₺462,000 and 20% VAT is ₺92,400; taxes total ₺134,400. Paid cash against goods, 6% KKDF on the ₺400,000 goods value (₺24,000) is added, VAT rises to ₺97,200 and taxes total ₺163,200.
Frequently asked questions
Which exchange rate is used?
Foreign-currency amounts are converted at the CBRT forex selling rate on the day the customs debt arises (when the declaration is registered). Leave the field empty and the tool uses the latest CBRT bulletin on record.
When is KKDF due on imports?
At 6% of the amount paid on credit when goods are imported on acceptance credit, a deferred letter of credit or cash against goods. Nothing is due if the price was paid before import (cash in advance, letter of credit, documents against payment). Some goods carry a zero rate by Presidential decision.
Can I recover the import VAT?
VAT-registered businesses deduct import VAT on their returns. Customs duty, additional duty and KKDF become part of the cost of the goods.
Does this apply to parcels I order from abroad?
No. Personal parcels by post or express courier follow a separate, simplified flat-rate regime with a value limit. This tool follows the calculation on a commercial customs declaration.
