How it is calculated
Inflation erodes money’s purchasing power: the same sum buys less over time. The right way to compare a past salary or price with today is to adjust for the general rise in prices in between. For amounts before January 2005, when six zeros were dropped from the lira, enter them in new lira.
Formula
Bugünkü karşılık = Tutar × TÜFE(son ay) ÷ TÜFE(geçmiş ay)CPI: TÜİK general index (2025=100); the ratio is inverted for the other direction.Example
₺100 in September 2006 is worth ₺3,339.46 at September 2026 prices: prices rose 33.39-fold in 20 years.
