YKS Net and Score Calculator (SAY, EA, SÖZ, DİL)
Pick your score type and enter your correct and wrong answers in the TYT and AYT (or YDT) tests. Your nets follow the 2026-YKS guide exactly; your standard and weighted scores are an estimate with the test statistics ÖSYM published for 2026-YKS. You can also see your OBP contribution.

How it is calculated
The Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) has three sessions: the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT), the Field Proficiency Tests (AYT) and the Foreign Language Test (YDT). By the 2026-YKS guide the TYT takes 165, the AYT 180 and the YDT 120 minutes; the TYT has Turkish 40, Social Sciences 20, Basic Mathematics 40 and Science 20 questions; the AYT has four tests of 40 questions and the YDT 80 (Table 1B). Scoring is in section 3.10.1: the net becomes a standard score with the final-year students’ mean and SD, the standard scores are added with the weights of Tables 1C and 1E, and the weighted scores are converted to the 100–500 scale. The nets are exact. The standard scores use the test means in the “Sayısal Bilgiler” (statistics) document ÖSYM publishes with each year’s results (2026-YKS, 21 Jul 2026); a new exam has different means, so these are estimates. The weighted-score distribution the last step needs is not published, so no 100–500 score is computed here. There is no fixed points requirement for choosing programmes: by the guide’s Table 1F (p. 49) associate-degree programmes need a computed TYT score and centrally placed bachelor’s programmes a computed score in the relevant score type; a TYT score is computed for everyone with a raw score of 0.5 in Turkish or Basic Mathematics (Table 1D). Programmes such as law, medicine, engineering and teaching also require a minimum ranking (Table 1G).
Net = C − W ÷ 4 · Standard score = 50 + 10 × (net − mean) ÷ SD · A-TYT = Σ weight × SS (TYT tests) · A-SAY = 0.40 × A-TYT + 0.30 × SS(Mathematics) + 0.10 × SS(Physics) + 0.10 × SS(Chemistry) + 0.10 × SS(Biology)C is the number of correct, W of wrong answers; blanks do not count. The mean and SD are those of the nets of that year’s final-year secondary-school candidates in the test (guide 3.10.1). A-TYT weights: Turkish 0.33, Social Sciences 0.17, Basic Mathematics 0.33, Science 0.17. EA: 0.40 × A-TYT + 0.30 Mathematics + 0.18 Turkish Literature + 0.07 History-1 + 0.05 Geography-1. SÖZ: 0.40 × A-TYT + 0.18 Turkish Literature + 0.07 History-1 + 0.05 Geography-1 + 0.08 History-2 + 0.08 Geography-2 + 0.09 Philosophy group + 0.05 Religious Culture / extra Philosophy. DİL: 0.40 × A-TYT + 0.60 × Foreign Language.- In each test a quarter of the wrong answers is taken from the correct ones: the net (raw score). In the AYT you answer your score type’s tests: Mathematics and Science for SAY, Mathematics and Turkish Literature-Social Sciences-1 for EA, Turkish Literature-Social Sciences-1 and Social Sciences-2 for SÖZ, the YDT for DİL.
- A score needs a raw score of 0.5 in TYT Turkish or Basic Mathematics, and in at least one of the score type’s two field tests (the YDT for DİL) (Table 1D).
- Each test’s net (each part’s in the Science and Social tests) becomes a standard score with mean 50 and SD 10, using the final-year students’ mean and SD. The values ÖSYM published for 2026-YKS are used here, so the result is an estimate.
- The standard scores are added with the weights of Tables 1C and 1E: first A-TYT, then the weighted score of your score type. Table 1E’s TYT column is a single weight; the guide does not say which TYT quantity it applies to, so here it is assumed to apply to A-TYT (0.40 × A-TYT).
- ÖSYM turns the weighted scores into the 100–500 scale; the details of that conversion are not published, so the page stops at the weighted score. For the placement score, OBP × 0.12 is added.
Example
TYT Turkish 30 correct, 6 wrong: net 30 − 6 ÷ 4 = 28.5. AYT Mathematics 20 correct, 8 wrong: net 20 − 8 ÷ 4 = 18. The Turkish standard score is 50 + 10 × (28.5 − 20.5) ÷ 8.4.
Frequently asked questions
Do four wrong answers cancel one correct answer in YKS?
Yes. In each test a quarter of the wrong answers is subtracted from the correct ones; blanks do not affect the net (2026-YKS guide, 3.10.1).
Is there a TYT threshold?
There is no fixed points threshold. A TYT score needs a raw score of at least 0.5 in Turkish or Basic Mathematics; SAY, EA, SÖZ and DİL also need at least 0.5 in one of the score type’s field tests (Table 1D). To choose programmes Table 1F (p. 49) only requires the relevant score to be computed; some programmes such as medicine, law, engineering and teaching also require a minimum ranking (Table 1G).
How many points is a net worth?
There is no fixed answer. Your net becomes a standard score with that year’s final-year students’ mean and SD; the harder the exam, the more a net is worth. ÖSYM does not publish the parameters of the 100–500 conversion; the “net-to-score coefficients” online are not ÖSYM values. This page shows only the steps that ÖSYM’s published test statistics allow.
What does a weighted score of 50 mean?
In each test a standard score of 50 is the final-year students’ mean, and every 10 points is one SD. The weights add up to 1, so a candidate exactly at the mean in every test also has a weighted score of 50. The weighted score is not the 100–500 YKS score.
How is the OBP added to my score?
The diploma score times 5 gives the OBP (a diploma score under 50 counts as 50), and OBP × 0.12 is added to each exam score to give the placement score. For those placed in a programme with 2025-YKS the coefficient is halved (2026-YKS guide, 4.1–4.2). For vocational extra points use the diploma score calculator.
What if I am exempt from the Religious Culture questions?
Candidates who did not take the compulsory Religious Culture course answer 5 extra Philosophy questions in TYT Social Sciences and 6 extra Philosophy-group questions in AYT Social Sciences-2 (guide 3.10.1). Enter those answers in the same field; the question count is the same.
