Discount Calculator
Apply one or several successive discounts to a list price and see what you pay and the real overall discount. Also find the rate from an old and new price, the original price from a discounted one, and what a “buy 3, pay for 2” offer is worth.

- Total saving150.00 ₺
- Overall (effective) discount30%
How it is calculated
Successive discounts multiply rather than add: the second applies to what is left after the first, so “30% + 10%” comes to 37%. In the same way, adding the rate back to a sale price does not give the original price: divide by (1 − rate). In a “buy X, pay for Y” offer the discount is the free items over the items taken: buy 3 pay for 2 is 33.33%, buy 2 pay for 1 is 50%.
Sale price = Price × (1 − d₁) × (1 − d₂) × …; Overall = 1 − (1 − d₁)(1 − d₂)…; Rate = (Old − New) ÷ Old; Old price = New ÷ (1 − d); Buy X pay Y = (X − Y) ÷ XExample
A ₺500 item with 30% off and then 10% more: 500 × 0.70 = ₺350, 350 × 0.90 = ₺315. The saving is ₺185, or 37%, not 40%.
Frequently asked questions
Is 50% + 20% off the same as 70%?
No. ₺100 drops to ₺50, then to 50 × 0.80 = ₺40: 60% off in all.
How do I find the discount percentage?
Subtract the new price from the old one and divide by the old. From ₺1,250 to ₺999 is (1,250 − 999) ÷ 1,250 = 20.08% off.
How do I get the original price back?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount). A ₺350 price after 30% off was 350 ÷ 0.70 = ₺500; adding 30% to ₺350 gives ₺455, which is wrong.
What discount is buy 3, pay for 2?
One of three items is free, so it is 33.33% off per item. If you only need one, it saves you nothing.
Which price counts as the price before a discount?
Under Art. 11 of the Price Label Regulation, for goods it is the lowest price charged in the ten days before the discount starts; for perishables such as fruit and vegetables, and for services, it is the price just before the discounted one. The seller bears the burden of proof (Art. 11/1). Under Art. 11/2 the discounted price must be shown on labels, tariffs and price lists together with the price before the discount, visibly and legibly. To check a shop’s discount rate, enter both prices under “Discount rate”.
