How it is calculated
Turkish banks quote loan rates per month and add KKDF and BSMV to the interest on consumer loans, and BSMV on business loans; home loans are exempt. This calculator is not tied to one loan type: you pick the method and the tax. Use the specific calculators for the BDDK limits of each loan type.
Eşit taksit: A × r′ ÷ (1 − (1 + r′)^−n) · Eşit anapara: A ÷ n + faiz′ · Vade sonu: A × (1 + r′ × n)A: loan amount · r: monthly rate · n: term in months · r′ = r × (1 + KKDF + BSMV): the monthly rate with the taxes on interest; interest′ is that month’s interest with tax.- Equal payments: the same amount every month, mostly interest at first.
- Equal principal: the same slice of principal plus interest on what is left, so payments fall and total interest is lower.
- At maturity: simple interest, paid with the principal in one go.
Example
For ₺250,000 at 3.49% a month over 24 months (consumer loan, KKDF and BSMV at 15% each) the equal payment is ₺17,310.50 and you repay ₺415,452.01. With equal principal the first payment is ₺21,759.17, the last ₺10,889.27, and you repay ₺391,781.25.
Frequently asked questions
Equal payments or equal principal: which costs less?
At the same rate and term, equal principal costs less interest because the balance falls faster, but the first payments are higher. If your budget can take the early months, equal principal is cheaper; equal payments keep the amount fixed.
Should I enter a yearly or a monthly rate?
Monthly. Turkish banks quote loans per month. Divide a nominal yearly rate by 12; convert a compound yearly rate with (1 + rate)^(1/12) − 1.
Which loans carry which tax?
Consumer loans (personal, car): KKDF 15% and BSMV 15%; Turkish lira business loans: BSMV 5%; home loans: none. The taxes apply to each payment’s interest, not to the loan amount.
