How it is calculated

Banks weigh your income, current debts and credit score. There is no legal cap on payments as a share of income; most banks want all payments under half of it. Personal loans also face BDDK term limits by amount, and car and home loans loan-to-value limits by price.

FormulaTaksit kapasitesi = Gelir × oran − Mevcut ödemeler; Kredi = Taksit × (1 − (1 + r′)^−n) ÷ r′r′ = monthly rate × (1 + KKDF + BSMV). For personal loans the term depends on the amount: up to ₺125,000, 36 months; up to ₺250,000, 24; above that, 12.
  1. Take the share of income you can spend on payments and subtract your current debt payments.
  2. Find the loan that payment repays at the taxed monthly rate over the term.
  3. For a personal loan, cap the term at the BDDK band the amount falls in and keep the highest result.

Example

With half of a ₺60,000 monthly income (₺30,000) for payments, at 3.49% a month (KKDF and BSMV at 15% each) 36 months would support ₺527,375.90; but at that amount the term is capped at 12 months, so the largest personal loan is ₺272,979.33 over 12 months.

Frequently asked questions

How much of my salary can go to loan payments?

The law sets no ratio; banks usually expect all loan and card payments to stay under about half of net income. A strong credit score can stretch it.

Why does a longer term not raise the amount?

For personal loans the term depends on the amount: above ₺250,000 it is at most 12 months, so a longer term does not help at high amounts.
