How it is calculated
BDDK caps the number of card instalments by type of purchase. The general limit is 12; domestic flights, tours and hotels allow 18, furniture and white goods 9, electronics 4, among others. Food, fuel, telecoms (new mobile phones included), gold bullion and spending abroad cannot be paid in instalments.
Faizsiz: Tutar ÷ n · Faizli: Tutar × r′ ÷ (1 − (1 + r′)^−n), r′ = r × (1 + KKDF + BSMV)n: instalments, within the purchase’s sector limit · r: the card’s monthly rate; empty means the CBRT maximum · interest-bearing plans add KKDF 15% and BSMV 15%.Example
A ₺24,000 white goods purchase over 6 interest-free instalments is ₺4,000 a month. White goods allow at most 9 instalments.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy a phone in instalments on a card?
New mobile phones cannot be paid in card instalments; refurbished phones allow 12. A bank loan can finance a new phone, with a term limit set by its price.
Are interest-free instalments really free?
Shop promotions are usually interest-free, with the cost borne by the seller. If the cash price is lower than the instalment price, though, the gap works like hidden interest.
