Gold Value Calculator
Work out the value of gram gold by karat, troy ounces and Turkish gold coins (quarter, half, full, Ata lira and more) from the price of a gram of has gold. The price defaults to Borsa İstanbul’s latest daily price; enter your own and a jeweller’s markup if you like.

How it is calculated
Turkey’s mint (Darphane) strikes the Republic gold coins: the thin, wide ziynet series (quarter 1.754 g, full 7.016 g) and the thicker, heavier sikke series (Ata lira 7.216 g), all 916.6 ‰, i.e. 22 karat. The gram has-gold price is Borsa İstanbul’s daily weighted average for standard gold of at least 995/1000 (TRY/kg ÷ 1000). As in the market, the has price counts as the fine-gold price; karat gold is worth fineness/1000 of it (916/1000 for 22 karat).
Value = Quantity × Fine grams × Price per fine gram × (1 + Workmanship)Has grams: the fine gold in one piece or one gram. For Turkish coins gross weight × 916.6/1000 (22 karat); for karat gold grams × fineness/1000 (22 karat 916, 18 karat 750, 14 karat 585); 1 for has gold, 31.1034768 for a troy ounce.- Find the kind’s has-gold content: a quarter (ziynet) coin is 1.754 g gross × 916.6/1000 ≈ 1.608 g of has gold, not 1.75 g.
- Multiply the content by the amount and the gram has-gold price: that is the metal value.
- Add the jeweller’s making charge and margin as a percentage to approach a shop price.
- The table values every kind at the same price.
Example
With has gold at 6,400 lira a gram, three quarter coins: 3 × 1.754 × 0.9166 = 4.8231 g of has gold; 4.8231 × 6,400 = 30,868.15 lira, or 31,794.20 with a 3 % markup.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a quarter coin weigh?
By the mint’s standard a ziynet quarter weighs 1.754 g and a sikke (Ata) quarter 1.804 g gross. At 22 karat it holds about 1.61 g of has gold, not 1.75 g.
Why does a jeweller’s price differ?
The tool gives the metal value. Jewellers add making charges, margin and tax when selling and deduct a share when buying; the gap varies by shop and day. Enter it as the markup to approach a shop price.
Is the Ata lira the same as a full coin?
No. Both are the single (birlik) Republic coin, but the full ziynet coin weighs 7.016 g and the Ata lira (sikke) 7.216 g, smaller and thicker. The Reşad coins the mint strikes have the sikke weights too (single 7.216 g).
What fineness is 14 karat?
The tool uses the 585 ‰ of the international standard ISO 9202. Turkey’s 2018 assay office communiqué had set 14 karat at no less than 583 ‰; it was repealed on 10 March 2022.
