How it is calculated
The MEB Academy Entrance Exam (MEB-AGS) is held by ÖSYM under Teaching Profession Law No. 7528 to select teacher candidates for preparatory training at the National Education Academy; the 2026 KPSS Bachelor’s guide has no Educational Sciences test and no P10 score type. It has two sessions: the Academy Entrance Exam everyone takes (AGS, 80 questions in six sub-tests) and the field-specific Teaching Field Knowledge Test (ÖABT, 50 questions). Foreign-language fields with no ÖABT use the YDS/e-YDS score instead (MEB-AGS-P3), and fields with neither use AGS alone (MEB-AGS-P1) (guide 1.3, 3.1). Scoring is in section 3.10: each sub-test’s net becomes a standard score on a 50/10 scale with the session’s mean and SD, these are added with the table’s weights, and the weighted scores are turned into a score out of 100 with X, S and B. ÖSYM published the sub-tests’ and ÖABT tests’ means and SDs for 2026-MEB-AGS on 26 Aug 2026, to one decimal; this page estimates the standard and weighted scores with them. The X, S and B needed for the score out of 100 are not published, so the last step is not done. The formula does fix this much: a weighted score half an SD above the mean gets 70, the top weighted score gets 100. MEB-AGS scores stay valid until the next exam’s results (1.4); ranks are set separately within each ÖABT field or language.
Net = C − W ÷ 4 · Standard score = 50 + 10 × (net − mean) ÷ SD · P1 = Σ weight × SS (AGS sub-tests) · P2 = Σ weight × SS (AGS) + 0.50 × SS(ÖABT) · Exam score = 70 + 30 × [2(AP − X) − S] ÷ [2(B − X) − S]C is the number of correct, W of wrong answers; blanks do not count. P1 weights: Verbal Ability 0.20, Numerical Ability 0.20, History 0.15, Geography of Türkiye 0.10, Educational Sciences and Turkish National Education System 0.25, Legislation 0.10. In P2 the AGS sub-test weights are halved and the ÖABT weighs 0.50. AP is the weighted score; X, S and B are the mean, SD and maximum of all candidates’ weighted scores.- In each sub-test and in the ÖABT, a quarter of the wrong answers is taken from the correct ones: the net. AGS has 15 Verbal, 15 Numerical, 6 History, 6 Geography, 30 Educational Sciences and 8 Legislation questions; the ÖABT has 50.
- Guide 3.10: candidates without at least 1 raw score (1 net) “in the AGS test” get no exam score at all; with an ÖABT net below 1, no ÖABT standard score and no score that uses the ÖABT. The guide says “the AGS test” and does not mention the total; this page applies the rule to the total net of the six sub-tests, and in the Religious Culture/İHL ÖABT to the total of its three sub-tests (this is a reading, not the guide’s wording).
- Each sub-test’s and the ÖABT test’s net becomes a standard score with the mean and SD published for 2026-MEB-AGS (for example, Educational Sciences mean 11.2, SD 6.3).
- The standard scores are added with the weights in the guide’s table: MEB-AGS-P1, and MEB-AGS-P2 for the ÖABT field (P2-16 and P2-17 in Religious Culture/İHL, with the ÖABT’s three sub-tests).
- ÖSYM turns the weighted scores into the exam score out of 100 with X, S and B. These are not published, so the last step cannot be done; the page stops at the weighted score.
Example
Educational Sciences 17 correct, 6 wrong: net 17 − 6 ÷ 4 = 15.5; with the 2026 statistics the standard score is 50 + 10 × (15.5 − 11.2) ÷ 6.3 = 56.825. With the default inputs the six sub-tests’ standard scores are 52.969 / 54.103 / 49.048 / 53.235 / 56.825 / 54.167; P1 = 0.20 × 52.969 + 0.20 × 54.103 + 0.15 × 49.048 + 0.10 × 53.235 + 0.25 × 56.825 + 0.10 × 54.167 = 53.718. Primary School Teaching ÖABT 32 correct, 8 wrong (net 30): SS 50 + 10 × (30 − 26.5) ÷ 7.1 = 54.930; P2-11 = 53.718 ÷ 2 + 0.5 × 54.930 = 54.324.
Frequently asked questions
Do wrong answers cost points in AGS?
Yes. In each AGS sub-test and in the ÖABT, a quarter of the wrong answers is subtracted from the correct ones (2026-MEB-AGS guide, 3.10).
What is the difference between MEB-AGS-P1 and P2?
P1 uses only the AGS sub-tests and applies to fields with no ÖABT or YDS. In P2 the AGS sub-tests count at half weight and the ÖABT at 0.50; each ÖABT field has its own P2 code (Primary School Teaching is P2-11). In foreign-language fields YDS/e-YDS takes the ÖABT’s place (P3).
How many questions does AGS have, in which tests?
AGS has 80 questions: Verbal Ability 15, Numerical Ability 15, History 6, Geography of Türkiye 6, Educational Sciences and the Turkish National Education System 30, Legislation 8; the ÖABT has 50.
How many points is a given net worth?
There is no fixed answer: the score depends on where your net stands among all that year’s candidates, and the weighted-score mean, SD and maximum the last step needs are not published. Coefficients and net-to-score tables online are not ÖSYM’s values.
