How it is calculated
Unemployment benefit is paid from the Unemployment Insurance Fund to insured workers who lose their job through no wish or fault of their own (Law 4447, Arts. 50–51). Apply to İŞKUR on e-Devlet or at a branch within 30 days of leaving. It is paid at the start of each month, and health insurance premiums are covered by the Fund meanwhile. The cap is tied to the minimum wage, so it rises when the minimum wage does, usually in January.
Aylık ödenek = min(Ortalama aylık brüt × %40, Brüt asgari ücret × %80); Net = Ödenek − Damga vergisiThe daily benefit is 40% of the average daily gross earnings in the premium base of the last 4 months, paid monthly for 30 days. It may not exceed 80% of the gross monthly minimum wage, ₺33,030.00 since 1 Jan 2026. Only stamp duty at 7.59 per mille is deducted.- Add up the premium base of the last 4 months and divide by the premium days: the average daily gross.
- Multiply it by 40%; if that is above the daily cap (gross minimum wage × 80% ÷ 30), take the cap.
- Multiply the daily benefit by 30 for the monthly gross and deduct stamp duty.
- Set the payment period from your premium days in the last 3 years.
Example
A worker averaging ₺45,000 gross over the last 4 months with 1,080 premium days in 3 years earns ₺1,500 a day, so the daily benefit at 40% is ₺600. The monthly gross is ₺18,000; after ₺136.62 stamp duty ₺17,863.38 net is paid for 300 days (10 months), ₺178,633.80 in all. Someone averaging ₺80,000 gets the 2026 cap, ₺26,424 gross, ₺26,223.44 net.
Frequently asked questions
How much is unemployment benefit?
40% of your average daily gross earnings, paid monthly for 30 days. The monthly amount may not exceed 80% of the gross minimum wage (₺33,030.00); there is no floor. Only stamp duty at 7.59 per mille is deducted.
For how long is it paid?
With at least 600 premium days in the last 3 years: 180 days; 900 days: 240 days; 1,080 days: 300 days. If you find work and lose it again before qualifying anew, you carry on with the days left.
Who qualifies?
You must have worked under contract without a break for the last 120 days, paid unemployment premiums for at least 600 days in the last 3 years, and lost the job through no wish or fault of your own: dismissal, resignation for just cause, end of a fixed-term contract, closure or transfer of the workplace. People who resign, or are dismissed for gross misconduct, get none.
When and where do I apply?
Apply to İŞKUR on e-Devlet or at a branch within 30 days from the day after you leave. Days of delay come off the payment period. The application is decided by the end of the following month.
Can I work while on benefit?
No. Benefit stops for anyone found working for income or drawing an old-age pension. It ends when you start a new job; your new employer may get premium support for the days left.
