How it is calculated
The national holiday starts on 28 October at 13:00; Ramazan Bayramı lasts 3.5 days and Kurban Bayramı 4.5 days including the eve (Law 2429, Arts. 1–2). So eves and 28 October count as half working days by default. The weekly rest day is Sunday and it begins on Saturday at 13:00 at the latest (Art. 3/A); in a six-day week Saturday counts as a working day, except under this provision of the Law, which makes the whole Saturday a holiday: “when the National Day and the public holidays set out in this Law end on Friday evening, the whole of the following Saturday is a holiday” (Art. 2/D). Religious holiday dates follow the Diyanet calendar. Administrative leave granted by the President to public employees (e.g. 2–4 April after Ramazan Bayramı 2025, 25 May and the morning of 26 May before Kurban Bayramı 2026) is not an official holiday and does not bind private employers; it is left out only with the public-sector option.
Working days = Σ (share of a working day per date); 1 a full day, 0.5 a half day, 0 a weekend or holidayEvery day in the range is counted, both ends included. Weekend: Saturday and Sunday (only Sunday in a six-day week). Public holidays and eves come from the registry, based on Law 2429 and the Diyanet calendar; the public-sector option also leaves out administrative leave days announced by the President.- Walk through every day from the start to the end.
- Skip Saturdays and Sundays (or only Sundays).
- Skip public holidays; count eves and 28 October as a half day, a full day or a day off, as chosen.
- The days left are the working days.
Example
28 April – 9 May 2025: 12 calendar days, less 2 weekend days (3–4 May) and 1 May, a Thursday, leaves 9 working days.
Frequently asked questions
Does the eve of a holiday count as a working day?
The morning is worked and the afternoon from 13:00 is a public holiday, so it counts as half a working day (0.5). You can count it as a full day or a day off to match your workplace.
What date is 10 working days later?
With “N working days later”, the start day is not counted; the 10th working day is found from the next day on, skipping weekends and holidays.
Does public-sector administrative leave apply to private companies?
No. It covers public employees only; in the private sector those are working days unless the employer gives the day off.
