That week
How it is calculated
The calculation uses the Gregorian calendar; dates before 15 October 1582 were recorded in the Julian calendar, so 1583 onwards is accepted. Holiday status comes from the registry, based on Law 2429 and the Diyanet calendar of religious holidays: the eves of Ramazan and Kurban Bayramı and 28 October are half days from 13:00. For years the holiday list does not cover, only weekends are shown.
Day of the week = ((N + 3) mod 7) + 1; N = days since 1 January 1970The result is 1 = Monday … 7 = Sunday. 1 January 1970 was a Thursday (4), and the weekday repeats every 7 days. The day count follows the Gregorian leap-year rule.Example
15 July 2016 is 16,997 days after 1 January 1970. (16,997 + 3) mod 7 = 17,000 mod 7 = 4; 4 + 1 = 5 → Friday.
Frequently asked questions
What day of the week was I born on?
Enter your date of birth to see its weekday. Your exact age and next birthday are in the age calculator.
Is the eve of a religious holiday a day off?
The eves of Ramazan and Kurban Bayramı are public holidays from 13:00; the morning is a working half. 28 October is likewise a half day from 13:00 (Law 2429, Arts. 1 and 2).
How is “the nth Friday of the month” found?
Divide the day of the month by 7 and round up: 23 October 2026 is a Friday, and ⌈23 ÷ 7⌉ = 4, so it is the 4th Friday of the month.
