How it is calculated

Admission to the police vocational schools (PMYO) is run by the Police Academy under the PMYO Entry Regulation. Under art. 15 the entry score used for ranking is 25% of the physical fitness score, plus 50% of the interview score, plus 25% of the candidate’s score in the YKS score type the announcement sets. The score type and minimum are fixed each period with the Ministry’s approval: in the 2026 Yılı 25. Dönem PMYO announcement the score type is TYT and the minimum 250 raw points; spouses and children of martyrs and disabled veterans need 200. This period admits 2,560 men, 630 women and 60 martyrs’/veterans’ family students. The physical fitness test is out of 100 and under 60 fails (art. 12(1)); the interview gives 20 points each for knowledge, comprehension, self-confidence, expression and body language, and needs at least 70 (art. 12(3)). Ties go to the higher YKS score, then interview, then physical score, then the younger candidate. Graduates are appointed as police officers (polis memuru); becoming an assistant inspector is a separate route.

FormulaPMYO entry score = TYT score × 25% + physical fitness × 25% + interview × 50%The TYT score is your score in the TYT score type of that year’s YKS (the announcement says “raw base score”). The Police Academy does not define “raw”; in ÖSYM usage a “raw score” is a test’s net. Reading it as the TYT score without the OBP is our interpretation; check the announcement before applying. Physical fitness and the interview are out of 100; the interview gives 20 points to each of five criteria.
  1. Application: a 2026-YKS TYT score of at least 250 (200 for spouses and children of martyrs and disabled veterans). Men and women are ranked by TYT and up to 10 times the quota are called to the tests; this limit does not apply to spouses and children of martyrs and disabled veterans (art. 7(3)).
  2. A physical fitness score of at least 60 goes on to the interview.
  3. An interview score of at least 70 passes.
  4. The entry score is the weighted sum of the three; men, women and martyrs’/veterans’ family candidates are ranked on separate lists.

Example

TYT 320, physical fitness 80, interview 85: 320 × 0.25 + 80 × 0.25 + 85 × 0.50 = 80 + 20 + 42.5 = 142.5.

Frequently asked questions

What TYT score does PMYO require?

In the 2026 Yılı 25. Dönem PMYO announcement at least 250 raw TYT points (200 for martyrs’ and disabled veterans’ families). That is only the condition to apply: men and women are ranked by TYT and at most 10 times the quota are called, so the score you need to be called can be higher. This limit does not apply to spouses and children of martyrs and disabled veterans (art. 7(3)).

How much does TYT weigh in the entry score?

25%. Physical fitness weighs 25% and the interview 50% (Entry Regulation art. 15(1)). TYT is out of 500, so the entry score can exceed 100; candidates are ranked on this sum.

What interview score do I need?

At least 70. The interview is out of 100, with 20 points for each of five criteria; candidates under 60 in physical fitness do not reach it.

Do PMYO graduates become assistant inspectors?

No. Under the announcement, those who complete PMYO training are appointed as police officers. Assistant inspector posts come through separate Police Academy programmes.
