How it is calculated
A bond’s price is its remaining coupons and principal discounted at the market yield. With the yield above the coupon it trades below face value (at a discount), below the coupon above face value (at a premium). Prices fall when yields rise; duration shows by how much.
Formula
Fiyat = Σ K ÷ (1 + y ÷ m)^k + N ÷ (1 + y ÷ m)^nK: coupon per period (N × coupon rate ÷ m) · N: face value · y: yearly market yield · m: coupons a year · n: coupons left.Example
A ₺100 bond with a 30% coupon (₺15 every six months) and two years left is worth ₺93.21 at a 35% yield: it trades at a discount because the coupon is below the yield.
