LGS Net and Score Calculator
Enter your correct and wrong answers in the six tests of the verbal and numerical sessions: your nets follow the “three wrongs cancel one correct” rule of MEB’s 2026 central exam guide exactly. The page also explains how the official 100–500 LGS score is computed and why it cannot be known in advance.

Tests: questions, weight (guide Table 2), your share correct and the 2026 mean item difficulty (report Table 8)
How it is calculated
The central exam of the High School Transition System (LGS) is an optional MEB exam used to place students in schools that admit by exam, such as science, social sciences and Anatolian high schools and project schools. Under the 2026 guide it is held in two sessions on one day: the verbal session has 50 questions (75 minutes), the numerical session 40 (80 minutes); every question has four options. Scoring is in section 11 of the guide: three wrong answers cancel one correct answer, the nets become standard scores with that year’s test means and SDs, the standard scores are added with the weights, and the total is placed between 100 and 500 using the year’s smallest and largest totals. So your score depends not only on your nets but on everyone’s that year. MEB does not publish these statistics: the 2026 central exam report gives attendance (994,358 students), full marks (452 students scored 500) and the tests’ mean item difficulty, but not the tests’ means and SDs. So this page makes no score estimate; it computes the nets exactly and shows your share of correct answers in each test next to the report’s mean item difficulty. The MEB report does not define item difficulty; the value in the table is the one in the report’s Table 8. Comparing it with your share correct relies on the common definition in measurement texts: the item difficulty index (p) is the number answering the item correctly divided by everyone in the group (e.g. Hacettepe University, EBB278 “Madde Analizi” lecture notes, slide 5); on that reading a test’s mean item difficulty is the students’ average share correct in that test. For mathematics in 2026 it was 0.28.
Net = C − W ÷ 3 · SS = 50 + 10 × (net − mean) ÷ SD · TASP = Σ weight × SS · MSP = 100 + 400 × (TASP − smallest TASP) ÷ (largest TASP − smallest TASP)C is the number of correct, W of wrong answers; blanks do not count. The mean and SD are those of all students’ nets in that test that year. The weights are 4 for Turkish, mathematics and science and 1 for revolution history, religious culture and the foreign language. TASP is the total weighted standard score; the smallest and largest TASP are those of all students that year.- In each test a third of the wrong answers is taken from the correct ones: the raw score (net). The verbal session has Turkish 20, revolution history 10, religious culture 10 and foreign language 10 questions; the numerical session has mathematics 20 and science 20.
- Each net becomes a standard score with mean 50 and SD 10, using that test’s mean and SD over all students. MEB does not publish these means and SDs, so this step and the next ones cannot be done here.
- The standard scores are multiplied by the weights and added: the total weighted standard score (TASP).
- The TASP is mapped linearly to the central exam score (MSP) so that the year’s smallest TASP gives 100 and the largest gives 500.
Example
Turkish 15 correct, 3 wrong: net 15 − 3 ÷ 3 = 14; blank 20 − 15 − 3 = 2. Mathematics 10 correct, 4 wrong: net 10 − 4 ÷ 3 = 8.67. Foreign language 7 correct, 2 wrong: net 7 − 2 ÷ 3 = 6.33.
Frequently asked questions
Do wrong answers cost points in the LGS?
Yes. In each test a third of the wrong answers is taken from the correct ones; three wrong answers cancel one correct answer. Blank questions do not affect the net (2026 guide, 11(b)).
What weight does each subject have?
Turkish, mathematics and science have a weight of 4; revolution history, religious culture and the foreign language 1 (guide Table 2). The weight applies to the standard score, not the net, so the same net is worth different amounts in different tests.
How many points is a given net worth?
There is no fixed answer. The score depends on where your nets stand among all students’ nets that year; since MEB does not publish the test means and SDs or the year’s smallest and largest totals, nobody can turn a net into a score in advance. The net-to-score tables and coefficients found online are not values MEB publishes. What is certain: a student who answers every question correctly scores 500; in 2026, 452 students got full marks.
How is the score computed for students exempt from religious culture or the foreign language?
The exempt test is credited with the same share of its maximum weighted standard score that the student’s other tests’ weighted standard scores are of their maximum (guide 11(f) and 11.3). Choosing an exemption in the calculator hides that test’s fields and shows the nets without it.
Is the school grade added to the LGS score?
No. The central exam score is computed from the exam’s tests only (guide, section 11). The school achievement score, attendance and address are used in “local placement”, which has no exam.
