ÖSYM EUS guide: ÖSYM / Sağlık Bakanlığı

How it is calculated

The Pharmacy Specialty Training Entrance Exam (EUS) is the exam ÖSYM holds electronically in Ankara to select candidates for specialty training at faculties of pharmacy, under the Regulation on Specialty Training in Pharmacy (2026-EUS guide, 1.1–1.2). One test has 75 multiple-choice professional-knowledge questions; the 13 subjects of Table 1 are analytical chemistry, physiology-pathology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical microbiology and immunology, medical biology, public health, pharmacy law/ethics, pharmacology, clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy/pharmaceutical botany, pharmaceutical technology and pharmaceutical toxicology, in an approximate split (section 3, Table 1 p. 30). Scoring is in section 4.2: the net becomes a standard score with mean 50 and SD 10, and that is the EUS score used for placement. A net exactly at the exam mean therefore scores 50, and each SD is worth 10 points. Choosing programmes needs at least 45 (5.6); on the 50/10 scale that is half an SD below the exam mean. ÖSYM does not publish the EUS mean and SD; its “numerical information” only gives the lowest and highest placement scores per programme. The page therefore computes your net exactly and makes no score estimate.

FormulaNet = C − W ÷ 4 · EUS score = 50 + 10 × (net − mean) ÷ SDC is the number of correct, W of wrong answers; blanks do not count. The mean and SD are computed from that exam’s nets; the guide does not say which candidates are included.
  1. A quarter of the wrong answers is taken from the correct ones: the net (raw score). The exam has 75 questions and lasts 110 minutes.
  2. The net becomes a standard score with mean 50 and SD 10, using the exam’s mean and SD; that standard score is the EUS score itself.
  3. ÖSYM does not publish the exam’s mean and SD, so the EUS score cannot be computed in advance; the page stops at the net.

Example

45 correct, 12 wrong: net 45 − 12 ÷ 4 = 42; 18 of the 75 questions are blank. If that net equals the exam mean, the EUS score is 50; one SD above the mean gives 60.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions and minutes does EUS have?

75 multiple-choice questions in 110 minutes (2026-EUS guide, 1.2 and section 3). The split by subject is approximate.

Do wrong answers cost points in EUS?

Yes, four wrong answers cancel one correct answer; blanks do not affect the net (2026-EUS guide, 4.2).

How many points is a given net worth?

The EUS score places your net within that exam: a net at the mean scores 50, one SD above the mean 50 + 10. Since the mean and SD come from that exam’s nets and ÖSYM does not publish them, a net’s score cannot be known in advance.

What are the EUS threshold and score cut?

Choosing programmes needs an EUS score of at least 45 (5.6). For candidates still in specialty training, in the first exam after resigning and after a placement not taken up, the placement score is reduced by 0.02 times the score (1.5; Regulation on Specialty Training in Pharmacy, art. 13/2).
